Academy scholars at Redditch United are all smiles following a very successful years which has seen a 100% success for the academic programme. This year the Academy has been able to offer spots Level 3 and sports coaching traineeships alongside a performance football programme. Next year the programme is set to develop further with the inclusion of University level education also being on offer.

 

In addition to the education pathways the Club have also be able to develop football opportunities and last season the Club entered a Reserves team that offered Academy players the opportunity to test them at Senior level. The team developed well over the season and this saw a number sign firs team forms and also multiple debuts.

 

Academy Director David Faulkner said, “its been an outstanding year! 100% success on our Level 3 programme is a fantastic achievement and in addition we were able to offer FA Coaching and Officiating qualifications too.  The aim of the Academy is to provide players with unique experiences and opportunities to enhance their football and employability.”

 

The Academy players will have even more to motivate them next year. Redditch United have invested in a new mast system to record games and training, have recruited new coaches and the players still have all training and match day session on the 3G at The Trio Stadium. Faulkner added “we have created a great links throughout the Club including the Junior section and the 1stTeam. New 1stTeam Manager Ian King has been a big advocate and this has seen a number of players take part in preseason session and games. In addition our Academy players have been role models supporting the Reds Foundation sessions.

 

The Reds Foundation is a new initiative aimed at growing participation of the Club. Session are put on by RUFC coaches and Academy players at The Trico Stadium for 5-12 year old boys and girls.  For more information about the Reds Foundation please contact Alan Williams (aswilliams111@aol.com).
