The Redditch United Academy are now in full swing and this years 31 players are making great progress on and off the pitch.

Students who are all enrolled onto Level 3 A-Level equivalent programmes are taking part in lesson and 10 hour of football per week here at Redditch United as an alternative to regular College. So far the students have taken part in a range of fixtures, benefited from elite coaching and even had a photo shoot with photography company

So far the learners are all on track to progress and from September 2018 the Academy will boast University Level education meaning Academy players have the potential to be on the programme for up to 5 years. Current 1st Team Manager Darren Byfield oversees the football programme with the academy and said; “The players are progressing well. We have had a number of players train with our first tam so far this season and two have signed for us. With our game against Stratford Town on Tuesday you may even see a couple in action.” The Academy 1st Team currently sit top of the table in the AoC League with10 points from 4 games.

The Academy are now on the look out for players for next season and school and college leavers are invited to attend an Information Evening at Redditch United on Tuesday 7th November at 6pm. Here applicants will be able to speak to current Academy players and staff, and find out more about what the programme can offer for enhancing the players employability in football and sport.
