Redditch United Academy are delighted to announce the signing of 4 of our Academy Scholars to the First Team, with all being involved with the away trip to Peterborough Sports this afternoon.

Owen Hill, Goalkeeper, Academy 1st Year and Academy Captain has impressed since joining us this Summer, showing commitment, dedication and professional behaviour towards his progression on the education side, as well as on the football side. Owen has been an outstanding leader between the sticks for the Academy, as well as being a vital member of the Reserves squad and deserves this opportunity to showcase his skills at First Team level.

Liam Harding, Midfielder and Academy 2nd Year is the next along the production line. Now in his second year at RUFC Academy, Harding  has emerged as a true leader within the Academy, as well as progressing excellently since the beginning of the season. Also former U18’s Floodlit Captain, Liam has represented Redditch United at Academy, Floodlit and Reserves level, and will undoubtedly be capable of making the next step up.

Ciccio Acheampong, Forward and Academy 1st Year is another exciting talent emerging into the First Team. After making an electric start to life at RUFC Academy, the winger has terrified defences across the Academy and Reserves division, using his lightning pace, touch tight dribbling and killer eye for goal to showcase himself as one of the Academy’s star prospects. Ciccio has all the tools required to make an impact at First Team level when thrown the opportunity!

Brad Clayton, Forward and HND Student is the final Academy Scholar through the First Team door. After completing the two-year Academy Programme, he is now enrolled on our University-Level HND programme. Now in his 3rd year with RUFC Academy, Clayton has progressed year after year and is now a crucial member of the Reserves Team. With his tremendous work rate, lightning pace, and positional flexibility, Brad could make a real impression on the First Team and become a useful asset.

Another mention must go to Reserves Regular Callum Hall, who has also made the step up to the First Team. With his ability to bring the ball out of defence, excellent recovery and confidence on the ball, Callum has the attributes of the modern day defender and deserves the call up after two excellent seasons with the Reserves.

This afternoon’s Academy call-ups display the Club’s clear desire to progress our Full Time Scholars into the First Team, as well as the impressive platform the Academy provides to our prospects to progress into First Team football.
