After a recent search, Redditch United have named Karl Addis as their new Reserve Team Manager and will take charge of the side as the team face Cadbury Athletic Reserves On Friday 4thJanuary at The Trico Stadium.
Addis is a former Guernsey Rovers Boss and before his time with the top job also worked with the younger age groups to develop a system to help promote players within the Club. Addis was selected from a number of applicants for the role in another show of strength as the development sides at Redditch United aim to feed the first team with locally developed talent. The Reserve team, which is under the umbrella of the Clubs Academy programme, provides a platform for those looking to gain the experience and knowledge to be promoted into first team football. Already this season Nyeko Sinclair has been promoted from the Reserves to the 1stTeam with fans favourite Robbie Bunn also being a former Academy player too.
Academy Director David Faulkner said “we are very excited to add Karl to the staff of people dedicated to help develop talent at the Club. Our programme has no room for individual agendas and egos and Karl fits the bill with his specific past experiences. He can help us to develop the programme that has already seen many successes this year. The aim within our Reserve squad is simple – develop players for the 1stTeam. If we win matches that’s great, but its not as important as moving them up the ladder. We have had some fantastic meetings with 1stTeam Manager Paul Smith and after Christmas our Reserve squad, and selected U18’s, will train alongside them on a Tuesday night.
The Club are now seeking trialists for the Reserve Team through January and also players who would like to join the full time education programme within the Club where players get to train full time and also take part in a College or University Education on site at The Trico Stadium.
