The Reserves were convincingly defeated 5-1 away from home by Knowle Reserves, despite a Ciccio Acheampong penalty giving the Reds momentary hope in the second half.

The Reds travelled to The Robin’s Nest to face Knowle Reserves, a few weeks after Knowle produced an impressive comeback over the Reds to win the game in added time.

The home side continued their superiority over from the previous match, going 1-0 up within 11 minutes, and then doubling their lead inside 25 minutes. With the Reds stunned and on the back foot, they were arguably lucky to go into half time with the score only at 2-0, without laying a glove on the opposition.

With the Reds requiring a much improved performance in the second half, the home side had other ideas, and added their 3rd and 4th, making it 4-0 within the first 15 minutes of the second half.

With the game out of sight, there was a glimmer of joy for the Reds, when Ciccio Acheampong scored from the spot, however this only turned out to be a consolation.

Knowle added their 5th and final goal moments before the final whistle, rubbing salt in the wounds for The Reds.

After last week’s heroic scenes, the Reds will be bitterly disappointed with their performance today. They now have 3 games remaining to end the season on a positive note!
