The Reserves travelled to Fairfield Villa, looking to bounce back from last week’s dismal performance.

The Reds however started poorly again, going 1-0 down in the 16th minute, conceding from a corner. The home side doubled their lead in the 27th minute, and then added their 3rd from a superb free kick in the 34th minute to make it 3-0. Things only got worse for the Reds, going 4-0 down just before the half time whistle.

The Reds come out for the second half with intent, and started positively, putting much more pressure on the opposition, and creating many more chances as a result. They consistently threatened down the channels, after a concerted effort to stretch the pitch and use their pace in behind. Fairfield however, managed to grab their 5th of the game in the 70th minute, with the Reds feeling slightly hard done by due to their much improved second half performance, 5-0.

The Reds were eventually rewarded for their persistence, with Jordan Ganderton rising to fire home a bullet header in the 87th minute to make it 5-1, which is how the game finished. A consolation goal at best, but a very important goal for the Reds for them to see the fruits of their labour in the second half.

Another disappointing afternoon for the Reserves, but with a much improved 2nd half performance, there is certainly positives for the side to take into next weeks fixture vs Coton Green Reserves.
