RUFC Academy U19’s vs Rugby Town

We hosted visitors Rugby Town in an under 19’s friendly, with the game providing the u19’s with the opportunity to get some minutes under their belt before the season begins on the 26th September.

The visitors started brightly, scoring their first goal within 6 minutes to get an early lead. Rugby Town continued to dominate for the remainder of the half, putting the lead to 3-0 by half time.

The second half begun and Rugby Town continued as they left of, by scoring their fourth very quickly after half time, and then adding another soon after.

Deeper into the second half, the Reds finally began to grow into the game, and were rewarded with a goal in the 85th minute as Shane Keeley fired a strike into the top corner.

However this proved only to be a blip for the visitors, as they added their 6th before the final whistle, with the final score ending 1-6.

A challenging afternoon for the lads, and despite the score, shown some glimpses of promise that we can certainly build on throughout the upcoming season.
