Redditch United Reserves’ unbeaten run came to an end this afternoon after a disappointing 5-0 defeat at the hands of Moors Academy Reserves.
Moors Academy began the game on the front foot, were first to every ball, as well as being extremely aggressive when pressing. The visitors were also very dangerous on the counter, and broke the deadlock in the 11th minute, making it 1-0, leaving the Reds shell shocked, and still trying to come to terms with the quality of opposition they were up against.
Moors Academy continued to dominate, with the Reds barely touching the ball, and not being able to threaten at all. Moors deservedly grabbed their second of the game, in the 41st minute, and added their 3rd in as many minutes shortly after, leaving the Reds going into half time 3-0 down.
The Reds come out for the second half with a spring in their step, pushing further forward, creating more chances and playing with much more intensity and desire. Despite the upturn in performance, the Reds were unable to take advantage, and the visitors added their 4th and 5th in the 60th and 61st minute.
Despite the disappointing result, the Reds should be encouraged by their improved second half display. On a positive note today, Academy prospect Mo Konteh made his First Team debut this afternoon! We are delighted for Mo, who has been in fine form this season and deserved the opportunity.
